Teaching
- Introduction of Parents Open Evenings which promotes two way communications and involves parents in their children’s education. This has been well received with a 97% attendance at Open Evenings.
- External examiners conduct the end of year exams and provide feedback to the teachers.
- The syllabus is flexible and is reviewed to suit teaching styles and different abilities and we have become the first madrasah to introduce the Safar Academy Syllabus which is well established across many madrasahs in England.
- Daily communication with parents through the homework diary.
- Annual Progress Reports for each child.
- Annual Prize Giving ceremonies are held where pupils’ achievements are recognised and celebrated with parents and families.
- Regular teacher training takes place to familiarise with new methodologies and techniques.
- Adolescent girls are taught specific related subjects i.e. puberty, relationships etc. in a sensitive but open manner by experienced female teachers. This has been very well received and as a result some mothers have asked for similar lessons to be delivered for them.
- Therefore, we have also introduced Adult Female Classes.
- Due to the nature of secular education and to promote an all-encompassing environment it was deemed necessary for our students to have a clear understanding of the Islamic perspective on Prophet Isaa (PBUH), (Jesus) hence this is taught as a special subject.
- Student health and safety is a priority. We have in place a number of policies including a Child Protection Policy which has been submitted to the Tameside Children Safeguarding Board.
- All our staff are DBS checked.
- Over a six week period, workshops were delivered for 10 adult males on Meerath (Laws of Inheritance).
- Tarawih prayer provisions are made in the Ramadan month for Huffaaz – who would not normally read in a Mosque – but are given the opportunity to practice with us before they are able to move on.
